E' un programma Open-Source Gratuito.
Funziona sia su Windows che su Linux (Per il piacere di MsZ ).
E' un Software OTFE che serve a cifrare le partizioni ma, soprattutto, a creare unità disco virtuali criptate all'interno di un singolo file definito, sul sito ufficiale, file container.
Per accedere alle unità virtuali bisogna immettere una Password (Per la protezione dei dati)!!

Fase molto importante è la scelta delle chiavi segrete per l'accesso al nuovo volume. La soluzione più comune consiste nell'impostare una semplice password di protezione. Per offrire una sicurezza adeguata, la parola d'ordine deve soddisfare determinati criteri di complessità e lunghezza. Si ricordi che la protezione dei dati sarà affidata unicamente alla parola che avete scelto.
In aggiunta, o in alternativa, alla password è possibile usare il contenuto di un file, denominato keyfile, come chiave per criptare i dati. Allo scopo è possibile usare qualsiasi documento in nostro possesso: ad esempio un file Pdf, un brano mp3, una foto Jpeg. È possibile usare più di un keyfile per ogni singolo contenitore ma si ricordi che la perdita o la corruzione di uno solo di questi renderà completamente inaccessibili i dati. Per usufruire di questa funzionalità è sufficiente selezionare la casella Utilizza keyfiles e tramite il pulsante apposito indicare il file da adoperare. In alternativa è possibile far generare un keyfile completamente casuale direttamente a TrueCrypt.

Non esiste il modo di provare l'esistenza di volumi cifrati sul Sistema grazie alla funzionalità di Plausible Deniability.

N.B TrueCrypt è disponibile in due modalità:

1 - La prima prevede la sua installazione sul S.O. rendendo disponibile il programma anche all'utenza sprovvista dei diritti d'amministratore!!

2 - La seconda viene definita Modalità Portatile (Stanalone); basterà lanciare il file TrueCrypt.exe presente nella sottocartella Setup Files. Utile nel caso lo si voglia usare su Pc diversi, salvandolo su di una Pen drive (Chiavetta USB).

E' disponibile in lingua inglese ma per la traduzione troverete un comodo Language Pack.

Succede per entrambi gli archivi, sia .zip che .tar.gz.

Sono disponibili solo binari per OpenSUSE e Ubuntu. Un po' pochino per dire "è disponibile anche per Linux". Se non ci sono i codici sorgente io non lo guardo neanche di striscio.
Non è colpa tua, Vincent. E' che personalmente diffido di gente che dice "è open source" e poi non rende disponibili i sorgenti in qualsiasi momento.

Per la compilazione del codice sorgente, che mettiamo a disposizione in questo download, è necessario avere a disposizione i sorgenti del Kernel (che deve essere superiore alla versione 2.6.5). Sul sito del produttore sono presenti sistemi di installazione per Ubuntu, Fedora e SuSE.

E' l'immagine all'inizio della segnalazione che fa spaginare. Almeno per chi ha una risoluzione a 1024x768 su monitor da 15.4 pollici come su quello mio al momento.

effettivamente uso una risoluzione molto bassa xché altrimenti le icone mi diventano troppo piccole, il fatto è che non sò impostare bene il monitor.

Comunque, l'impostazione del Monitor, per chi passa molte ore davanti il Pc, deve essere accurata, altrimenti si rischia di rovinare i propri occhi.

le icone si possono "modificare" (ingrandendole e viceversa) modificando le impostazioni del desktop.

Note: To encrypt a non-system partition in place, click 'Create Volume' > 'Encrypt a non-system partition' > 'Standard volume' > 'Select Device' > 'Encrypt partition in place' and then follow the instructions in the wizard. Please note that this is not supported on Windows XP/2000/2003 as these versions of Windows do not natively support shrinking of a filesystem (the filesystem needs to be shrunk to make space for the volume header and backup header).

Protection against memory corruption caused by certain inappropriately designed versions of some BIOSes, which prevented the pre-boot authentication component from working properly.

During the process of creation of a hidden operating system, TrueCrypt now securely erases the entire content of the partition where the original system resides after the hidden system has been created. The user is then prompted to install a new system on the partition and encrypt it using TrueCrypt (thus the decoy system is created).

Note: Although we are not aware of any security issues (connected with decoy systems) affecting the previous versions of TrueCrypt, we have implemented this change to prevent any such undiscovered security issues (if there are any). Otherwise, in the future, a vulnerability might be discovered that could allow an attacker to find out that the TrueCrypt wizard was used in the hidden-system-creation mode (which might indicate the existence of a hidden operating system on the computer) e.g. by analyzing files, such as log files created by Windows, on the partition where the original system (of which the hidden system is a clone) resides. In addition, due to this change, it is no longer required that the paging file is disabled and hibernation prevented when creating a hidden operating system.
